Banned in islam?

Social media was introduced as a way of connecting with the social world but it has shown some weird faces or orthodoxy. Well what could be the most bizzare thing banned by a religion. Killing,alcohol,corrupt practice etc. But, chess? Can playing chess be banned by a religion? Recently Mohammed kaif, the ace cricketer had posted a picture of himself with his son playing chess. And social media turned into a sermon on what is banned and what is not.
Many people kept on asking him not to play since it is banned in islam.  It is prohibited in quran etc. Well those telling about islam and quran need to read it again and understand true meaning of verses. And try to understand it in a better manner. Fans reverted in support of the cricketer. And debate continued. Recently a cricketer was also in news for the gown of his wife.
